| I had a week off for my Easter break, so I decided to take full advantage of it and took a trip to sydney and melbourne. I had an amazing time! Melbourne is by far my favorite city in Australia so far. it is VERY similar to montreal with respect to the atmosphere, the nightlife, the culture... i love the city. and to be honest, i kind of miss the colder weather lol. melbourne had the perfect early fall weather when i was there... maybe 10C at night and 18-20C during the day, so i wore a jacket for the very first time in the last 4 months since i've been in australia haha.
anyways, here are some photos:

| Wow I haven't been on this thing for so long... my previous post was more than a year ago! I hate to abandon things like this, but I've been totally lazy.
Lots of stuff have happened this past year, so I'll summarize in point-form: - applied to med schools across Canada: got rejected by all of them - graduated from my B.Sc in physiology - applied to med school in Australia: got accepted - leaving Canada for University of Queensland (in Brisbane) in late December - personal life: dated unsuccessfully, so putting that on hold for a while - travel: went back to China during the summer, saw the Olympics in Beijing! I saw the opening ceremony live at the Bird's Nest. It was probably the best experience of my life (aside from being ecstatic about getting accepted to med school)

| Wow... the last two weeks have been so incredibly busy for me. Sorry for not visiting everyone's Xanga pages. I've been going to the lab everyday, and trying to fill out my primary med school applications for US med schools, and also volunteering for the McGill orientation center. So yeah, I didn't really do anything else at all.
The coming three weeks before school starts for the fall semester are going to be full of work to do. I hope I'll at least be able to plan a roadtrip to NYC or something. I've never gone on a roadtrip with just friends and no family before, so it should be a great experience. I really should go out and have some fun before school starts, because I haven't even done anything for fun since the MCAT. My life sucks so much haha.
Today I was thinking that maybe I should forget about applying to the US med schools... I don't think I'll have the time to do it justice anyways. And besides, I would feel really weird asking a professor to mail letters of recommendation to like 20 schools lol. This is especially frustrating since US and Canadian med schools have different deadline dates... the professor will not be able to mail them all out at once. It's so complicated...
Anyways, there's more work to do. Bye!

| Okay I'm in need of doing some ranting... this past week has been pretty crappy. First, since I had my MCAT last week, I haven't gone out to have fun at all -- mainly because it seems that EVERYONE is busy with something or someone. So I haven't been doing much in terms of having fun. Now normally, I could deal with that pretty decently, because I don't usually go out that much anyways. But what really bothers me is that my best friend is kind of neglecting his friends, including me. Yes he is busy with work, dragonboat, girlfriend, and family responsibilities, but everyone needs to stay in touch with their best friends. What really pissed me off was that he actually forgot that I had done my MCAT, and he didn't even call me that weekend to ask me how it went. And I thought... there's definitely something wrong when your best friend forgets something like this...
I don't mean to sound like such a bitchy and needy person, but I felt that he should have remembered something that is so important to me. However, I haven't confronted him about this yet, and I'm going to play along and see what happens eventually. I kind of want to see how far this whole thing would go before he realizes what he's doing. Our circle of friends often talk about how he is never around us anymore. We even once discussed the possibility that if one day he breaks up with his girlfriend, would he come running back to us to pass his time...
I know that once you have a boyfriend or a girlfriend, you tend to spend more and more of your time with that person. But I think it is extremely important that you keep your friendships alive. Good friendships require investments of time and energy... if you don't invest in it, it'll die away.
In the future when I get my own boyfriend, I would keep this in mind because I believe there needs to be a good balance between spending time with friends and spending time with the boyfriend. I need to also keep in mind to not be too possessive of my boyfriend either, because I would not want him to neglect his friends either.
We must understand and recognize the important of friendships.
